You also need to know these things about the maintenance of gasoline filters!

To run a car well, regular maintenance is essential. The oil filter, air filter, and gasoline filter all need to be replaced in a timely manner. But I believe many people are familiar with machine filters and air filters, but overlook steam filters. So, what is a steam filter? How often should the steam filter be replaced? Let's take a look together.

What is a steam filter

Gasoline filter, also known as the "kidney of the engine", is a type of fuel filter that filters fuel impurities, provides clean fuel for the engine, and protects the engine and fuel supply system as important automotive components.
Due to the production of a large amount of carbon deposits, gum, sludge, metal debris, etc. during engine operation, these impurities are mixed in the engine oil. If not filtered out, they will exacerbate engine wear. So it is necessary to filter these impurities and leave them on the filter paper of the steam filter, so that the engine can obtain clean oil.

According to the fuel supply method, gasoline filters can be divided into two types: carburetor type and electronic fuel injection type. After 2000, carburetor type filters have basically disappeared from passenger cars due to outdated methods, and currently, electronic fuel injection is mainly used in passenger cars. According to the structural characteristics, it can be divided into three types: ordinary straight in and straight out type, oil return pipeline type, and integrated oil pump type.

How long does it take to replace the steam filter?

The replacement cycle of gasoline filters depends on the cleanliness of the vehicle during daily use. Generally speaking, if the cleanliness of gasoline is poor, the gasoline filter needs to be replaced in advance; Gasoline is relatively clean, so the replacement time can be postponed appropriately. The theoretical replacement cycle for the vast majority of built-in gasoline filters is 40000 kilometers, and for external filters it is 20000 kilometers. Specific replacement needs to be carried out according to the mileage specified in the maintenance manual.

Additionally, it should be noted that if the following phenomena occur in the car and other reasons are ruled out, it is possible that your gasoline filter is too dirty or clogged, and it is time to replace it.

0 1. Weak acceleration and significant decrease in power during high load operation of the car
Mild blockage of the gasoline filter can generally cause poor fuel supply to the engine, resulting in a decrease in engine power.

0 2. Difficulty starting or inability to start the car directly
When the gasoline filter is severely clogged, the car may experience difficulty or even inability to start, such as sometimes needing to be ignited 2-5 times before starting.

0 3. Engine shaking at idle speed

Moderate blockage of the gasoline filter not only does not reduce the power of the car, but also causes engine shaking when the car is idling.

Of course, the above fault phenomena can only be determined to be a problem with the gasoline filter after eliminating other faults, because the fault phenomena caused by gasoline filter problems are similar to fuel system faults (such as clogged fuel injectors)
